Support THE PRESIDENT!! OUT LOUD PEOPLE OUT LOUD!
O.k. so maybe I have issues with the elders in my family. I’ll admit it! But I have difficulty with folks that know they know everything and don’t want to learn anything new because they “DON’T NEED IT” . Folks that as you pick them up from the airport ask to use the piece of technology that was just called THE DEVILS HANDY WORK (my cell phone) to call and let people know that they landed safely. Yet I digress. Where was I? Oh yes! Supporting our president Barack OBAMA!
So we as African Americans have a very interesting outlook on being proud. We are very proud to ourselves and when we are around each other but we don’t want to do it out in public. You know we won’t wear Barack Obama stickers on our bags because we don’t want to make anyone uncomfortable. We won’t put Barack Obama Stickers on our cars because we don’t want to make anyone uncomfortable. We don’t…. You get the message. Well guess what people. It is time for us to come out from under the veil of slavery mentality and be proud of this man. OUT LOUD!!! Don’t buy into this whole media debacle that would have you believe that he has not done anything for our country. Do not buy into making people feel comfortable with having an African American president by saying things like “Well he isn’t really all that good, but I would still prefer him over Bush.”
Let me tell you what is really going on and why you feel like you have to say that. You see back in the old days of slavery when people would compliment you or your children slaves would say things like “Who Cora?( You like that? I took it back even with the name. You can thank me later.) that girl is the worst one of the bunch.” Do you know why parents would say things like that about there children and family???
BECAUSE THEY DIDN’T WANT THEM TO BE SOLD AWAY FROM THEM!! The only problem is we were never told that. So we as a people started to believe it. As a matter of fact how many of you can remember saying that very same thing about your child or family member? How many of you can remember a mother or father, aunt or uncle saying that about your cousins, nieces or nephews? Well now you know why. It has been years and years of conditioning, and we forgot to leave it behind with the institution that created it.
Have you ever heard of William Lynch? Well sit down children you are going to love this. William Lynch in a speech in Virginia said that the way to control slaves was to pit them against EACH OTHER. Here is an excerpt from Wikipedia
He briefly notes that their current violent method of handling unruly slaves – lynching, though the term is not used – is inefficient and counterproductive. Instead, he suggests that they adopt his method, which consists of exploiting differences such as age and skin color in order to pit slaves against each other. This method, he assures his hosts, will “control [their] slaves for at least 300 hundred [sic] years.”

The great thing is we broke free from this mental lynching a little earlier than expected. So lets finalize the emancipation and start cheering for each other. Here is how you find you OBAMA bumper stickers, T-shirts, Whatever!!!
