I totally agree with the Crabs in a Bucket sentiment. We as African Americans, Blacks, Afro Americans or whatever they are calling us this term, need to get out of the bucket!!! It's time for us to soar, take flight, like an Eagle!! Do somehting different than try to cut, destroy or kill each other. Wake up call: That is EXACTLY what they want us to do. No need for them to make any effort to hold us back, we are doing it for them!!! Point is, we like every other civilized culture on this planet need to learn that no matter how many surgeries we have, how many relaxers, hair weave, dyes or wigs,hair cuts, high dollar suits, high priced cars or high priced jewelry we put on... you are the minority!! No matter how educated or ' uneducated' we choose to be,how much money is in our bank account or where we live, if your skin color is darker than a sheet of paper, (in retrospect of course), your hair has any kind of kink and your nose,lips or hips have an extra curve of ANY kind(biological not bought).. YOU ARE THE MINORITY!! Is this self-defeating, does this have to be seen as a deficiency or a curse.. OF COURSE NOT!! I feel it is an ABSOLUTE honor!! We are NOT the status quo, an everyday thing, typical, the norm,unnoticeable. In fact we are EVERYTHING they want to be and that is a WONDERFUL place to be!!! And suck it up people, you might as well jump on board..no pun intended, We are in this together!! It is time that we stop trying to down play the other brother or sister and take the time and congratulate them,encourage them, lift them up every once in a while!! I hear many of my peers, unfortunately we are passing it on to the next generation, use the TIRELESS excuse that ' the man' is keeping me from this or 'the man' is keeping me from that. To this defeaning, horrible excuse to not acheive anything worth noting in life, my response is and always has been,'" I hate to tell you my brother/sister, but you need to look in the mirror!!!
